Is there parking?

Each lodge has free parking for up to two cars. Additional cars may park at the top or the bottom of the Big Sky driveway. Please do not park on the grass.

What can children expect?

Big Sky is brilliant for kids to run around an explore, why not head into our wee wood for a picnic, wildlife spotting or even build a den. For the littlest family members, a cot and highchair is available on request. You can add these to your online booking or get in touch.

Are pets welcome?

Dogs are very welcome at Big Sky and we allow up to two well-behaved dogs in most of our places for a small charge. Please add your pets in advance when booking online or let us know if you book via email/phone. We keep Rowan Lodge, The Hideaway and the Loft pet free for guest with allergies.

Please don’t leave your pets alone in the lodge when you are out and keep them on a lead if they tend to jump up or chase rabbits. There are miles of great walks in the Spittal Wood at the bottom of the drive.

Is WIFI available?

All our places have free wifi. Out here in the sticks it may not be as fast as you are used to if you live in a town but it’s fine for email, Netflix and social networking. Tag us @bigskylodges We love seeing pics of your stay!

What are the laundry facilities?

Each lodge has its own washing machine and an indoor airer. There is also an outdoor retractable clothes line.
The Hideaway and the Loft do not have a washing machine but we have one in the store that you are welcome to use, just ask!

Is there an on-site shop?

We now have a mini shop corner in the Big Sky store. We stock Big Sky mugs and candles, local coffee and organic beer and a few other small gifts like postcards, cushions, Gillian Kyle Scottish mugs and tea towels and seasonal locally produced preserves and soaps. Our shop is unmanned so please give us a shout at HQ if you’d like to check it out. We can accept payment by card or cash. Gift vouchers and Big Sky mugs and candles are also available to purchase via the website here.

What is the Croft?

Big Sky Lodges is also a working Croft so we sometimes have Horses, sheep, cows or hens in the fields around the lodges.

Please don’t feed the animals and stay on the other side of the fence from them.

Are there local shops?

The nearest shops are in Muir of Ord which is five minute drive from Big Sky Lodges. There is a Co-Op supermarket, a Spar and good quality butchers. There is a filling station with shop, chemist, a chippy and carry out tandoori.

Dingwall is about six miles away. There is a Tesco supermarket here but the smaller shops in the Main street are worth a visit; especially Deas for bread and rolls; Munros or Frasers for butcher meat.

Inverness is only ten miles from Big Sky Lodges and has a shopping mall and high street, cafes, restaurants, a cinema, theatre and lots of giant supermarkets. Most of the best restaurants are by the river.

Tesco and Sainsbury’s will both deliver directly to your lodge. The postcode for deliveries is Big Sky Lodges IV6 7RP. Make sure you mention which lodge you are staying in when you order.

Are there local pubs?

The Ord Arms in Muir of Ord or the Lovat Arms in Beauly are the closest to Big Sky Lodges.

For local beers, great food and live music we highly recommend The Anderson in Fortrose, The Allangrange Arms in Munlochy or Hootannany’s and The Black Isle bar in Inverness.
