Summer 2014
It's been a pretty good start to the summer so far but as I write this it is tipping it down so maybe that's it! I hope not though because it looks like it's going to be a very busy July and August here at Big Sky. We've been getting all ready for the season and adding lots of exciting new features to our Lodges.
To start we have some absolutely beautiful new Big Sky signs which we are so proud of as they were handmade by the Big Sky Team! Constructed by Angus in the Big Sky workshop and painted by Chrissie. Nobody should have any trouble finding us now!
Next up are these gorgeous new Gillian Kyle Tunnocks quirky Scottish inspired mugs. We think they'll fit right in at Big Sky. If they prove to be really popular we might get our hands on a few more for guests to buy as souvenirs of their stay at Big sky. We think they'll be just the thing for a brew and a teacake to get you in the Big Sky mood after a long drive up to the bonny Black Isle.
It's BBQ season! Hurrah! We've already had so many BBQ's we've forgotten what the kitchen looks like so we though it was only fair that our guests do too with these fab shiny new red ones in each Lodge. It's time to crack out the pimms and get the Barbie on. Here's to a great summer 2014 at Big Sky Lodges!
So far it's been a pretty busy year here at Big Sky! It's a pleasure to be writing this for our beautiful shiny new website! It's packed full of great new photographs, features and cracking Special Offers for a perfect break at Big Sky.
We've had other changes on the Big Sky croft too. We had to say goodbye to our much loved Highland Cows, Hairy and Mary. The field just wasn't escape proof enough for their two calves, as some of our Big Sky guests will agree when they woke up to find Poppy and Hamish munching away at their lawns!
We now have three beautiful friendly new horses, Snowflake, Poppy and Lanya who like nothing more than being spoiled by our guests. Often to be found sunbathing in front of the lodges, and having a good gallop around the field.
This year we've come up with a few extras to make your stay at Big Sky Lodges extra special! Please check out our Additional Services page for details on all sorts of treats we can arrange to have waiting for you in your Lodge.
Local seasonal veg boxes from the Loch na Mhoid community garden just along the road. Fantastic fresh carrots, potatoes, beetroot, peas, salads and all kinds of tasty veg.
We've got basic starter packs, containing bread, milk, tea, coffee, butter and everything you need to get your holiday started.
Delicious Scottish breakfast packs from our wonderful village butcher, Munro's, with local sausages, black pudding, free range eggs, bacon and other breakfast essentals.
A Cracking selection of organic beers from the wonderful Black Isle Brewery or even Champagne and chocolates!
Relaxing at Big Sky has never been difficult with such peaceful surroundings. Whether you are enjoying morning coffee on the balcony at Red Kite Lodge, reading a great book by the log stove in Rowan Lodge or sipping a glass of wine in the evening on the veranda at Wildcat Lodge, there's always the perfect spot just for you.
And now we've added a beautiful stripey hammock to the garden at Mountain Lodge. We've tested it extensively and it's especially good with a book and a cold beer!
It's also big enough for two to have a romantic nap while the sun glints through the leaves above. Looks like Mountain Lodge is fast becoming our most popular lodge!
Thanks for reading!
Ailsa.
